- We do not track you. No cookies, no analytics scripts.
- What you type stays in your browser until you choose to download or print.
- Payment is by Gumroad.
- Refund within 14 days if you have not downloaded the print files.
- Image and data credits are listed below, word for word where the licence requires it.
Terms and licenceOpen
These terms are between you and HourDate, in the United Kingdom. Write to hello@hourdate.co.uk. They are in plain English. They do not take away any right the law keeps for you.
You pay once on Gumroad: 1 print £3, or 3 prints for £5 on one key. Each print can be any HourDate design. You may print your designs and give them as gifts. The chart is a keepsake, not a navigation tool.
About
HourDate is a small UK shop. We make printable personalised keepsakes. Write to hello@hourdate.co.uk.
The product
HourDate makes personalised print files: star charts, moon phases, photo posters, street maps, and more. You download them after you unlock with a print key.One key, any print. The chart is a keepsake. It is not for navigation, surveying, or anything where a wrong position could cause harm. Positions are geometric calculations for sea level. They are plotted from the HYG star catalogue and are accurate to well within the size of a star dot on the print.
What you may do with your files
When you buy a key, you may print the design that key unlocks, give the prints as gifts, and keep the files for yourself. You may not resell the files as a stock product, and you may not offer the maker itself as your own service. The words you type are yours.
How a print key works
A key unlocks one print, or three with the 3-pack. Each print is tied to the design you first unlock. You can edit that design for 24 hours, then it's fixed. Re-downloads on any device keep working. The star and moon sheet counts as one print. The key is remembered in your browser; there is no account. There is no subscription.
Price and payment
Prices are in pounds sterling and are shown before you pay. 1 print £3, or 3 prints £5. The price is the same for every design. Payment is taken by Gumroad. You can cancel within 14 days of paying, until you download a print file. Before that download starts, you are asked to agree that the files are supplied immediately and that the 14-day right to cancel for a change of mind ends. If the files are faulty or not as described, your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 stay. See the refund policy.
The data in the map
Star positions are adapted from the HYG Database under CC BY-SA 4.0. Towns are from GeoNames under CC BY 4.0. The street map uses OpenStreetMap data (© OpenStreetMap contributors) via OpenFreeMap tiles. The print line is OpenFreeMap © OpenMapTiles Data from OpenStreetMap. Details and links are on the credits section. Those licences apply to the data files, which stay separate from the rest of the site.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer in the UK, you also have the rights given by the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
RefundsOpen
You can cancel within 14 days of paying, until you download the print files. We aim to reply within 3 working days.
Email us with the address you used at checkout and, if you have it, your print key. Money goes back through Gumroad. We do not ask for bank details.

Before you download the print files
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you can cancel a digital purchase within 14 days and get your money back, as long as you haven't started downloading the print files. We refund you in full through Gumroad.
When you start a download
The print files are digital and can be supplied straight away. Before the first print file downloads, the page asks you to agree to that. You acknowledge that the 14-day right to cancel for a change of mind ends when the download starts. The free preview does not do this. It is a small watermarked image, and downloading it does not end the cancellation right.
If a file is faulty or not as described
That right stays. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, if the files are faulty, or they are not what we described, we will repair the problem or refund you. Tell us what went wrong. A change of mind after the download has started is different, and the cancellation right for that has ended.
How the money goes back
Refunds go through Gumroad to the card or method you paid with. Questions go to hello@hourdate.co.uk.
PrivacyOpen
HourDate is a small UK shop in the United Kingdom. Write to hello@hourdate.co.uk. This section describes what the site actually does.
Your date, names, and message stay in this browser. We do not run analytics. A print key is sent only when you ask us to check it. The street map also loads map tiles from tiles.openfreemap.org.

What stays on your device
The date, the time, the place, the names, the message, and the poster are handled in your browser. They are not sent to us. Photos never leave the device unless you choose a printer that HourDate sends the file to for that order only. This browser may keep your latest draft, and a print key after you unlock, in local storage so a refresh does not wipe your work. You can clear that by clearing site data for this address.
What we do not do
- No accounts.
- No analytics, advertising, or tracking pixels.
- No newsletter form.
- No fonts loaded from Google. The typefaces are files on this site.
- No geocoding service. Town search uses the town list included with the site. The street map’s only outside calls are tiles and label fonts from tiles.openfreemap.org.
- Photos stay on your device unless you use Get it printed with a partner that receives the file.
Location
If you press “Use my location”, your browser asks permission and shares the position with this page, on your device. The page finds the nearest town in the local list. That position is not sent to us.
Street map tiles
The street map is the only page that contacts another server for pictures of a place. It uses MapLibre GL JS, which is a file on this site and is not loaded from a CDN. The browser then requests vector tiles from https://tiles.openfreemap.org/planet and, for street names, font glyphs from https://tiles.openfreemap.org/fonts/. Both are on tiles.openfreemap.org. OpenFreeMap allows commercial use without an API key. No other map host is used. The public OpenStreetMap tile server is not used, and place search does not call a public geocoder.
The map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors. The tile credit, which is also printed on every city poster, is: OpenFreeMap © OpenMapTiles Data from OpenStreetMap.
Print keys
When you paste a print key, the browser sends that key, the design you are unlocking, and a scrambled fingerprint of your design (it can't be turned back into your words) to our checker (a small Cloudflare Worker). The checker asks Gumroad whether the key is genuine and records which design the key is tied to. Your print key is remembered in this browser so you can re-download.The checker does not receive your poster, your names, or your message, and it does not return your email address to the page.
Sun images
The sun print loads a low-resolution preview through our licence worker at https://licence.hourdate.co.uk. That is the only new call off this device. The worker fetches a publicly released photo of the sun for your date from a public image archive (via Helioviewer when possible). It caches each date. A full-resolution frame is requested only after a valid sun print key is checked on the worker. Your names and message are not sent with that request.
Print partners
If you use a Get it printed link after unlocking, you order from that printer (currently Boots Photo or Max Spielmann). You upload the file to them yourself. Your delivery address goes only to the printer you choose, under their privacy policy. HourDate does not receive your postal address from those checkouts.
Payments
If you buy a key, you pay on Gumroad. They receive your payment details under their own privacy notice. We do not see your card number.
Cookies
We do not set tracking cookies. A service worker may cache the site so it can open again without a connection. That cache stays on your device.
Credits and attributionsOpen
Every library and every data file used to make the maps is listed here, with the licence we rely on.
Star positions come from the HYG database. Towns come from GeoNames. The typefaces are files on this site, not loaded from elsewhere.

Our own work
- The poster drawings, including constellation lines, are our own. The lines follow traditional Western figures and were written for this project. They are not taken from another star-map program.
- The Milky Way on the darker designs is a soft band calculated from each star’s place in the sky and the standard north galactic pole. It is not a photograph and not a separate catalogue.
- The moon print is a disc drawn in the browser from the calculated phase, shaded with a public-domain LRO albedo map from NASA’s Scientific Visualization Studio.
- Paper grain, foil-gold rings, and watercolour washes are drawn in the browser for each poster. Sample photographs on the photo and polaroid makers are listed under Data on this page and are not included in paid downloads.
- Star coordinates stay in a separate file under the HYG licence. The rest of the site is our own work, all rights reserved.
