Some people want the sky on the day a dog or cat arrived. Others want the night they died. Both are valid. Put their name in the title, the years in the names line if you like, and the town where they lived.
If you are buying for a friend, ask whether they want a memorial at all. Grief is not always something you want opened on their behalf.
